Cosmologie portative

Cosmologia portatile – Portable Cosmology is a solo exhibition by Alessandro De Francesco which took place at the Villa Rondinelli art space in Fiesole, Italy, in September 2026. The show was curated by Marco Mazzi.

The event featured a new sculptural piece realised with stones found by the artist during two trips to North Yorkshire, accompanied by a lecture-performance by the artist himself, which reflected upon sculpture and artistic practice as a form of agency by the environment. The trips were themselves conceived as part of the exhibition and documented as such.

Two other main pieces were presented: an immersive and interactive text-based installation in Mixed Reality with wireless motion tracking and a sound installation with digitally processed spoken voice, both featuring a poem written by the artist during his travels to the UK.

The exhibition also featured a video installation in loop with a film shot during the artist's trips to North Yorkshire and a large format photo on the wall, taken by the artist himself during one of his trips and produced by Villa Rondinelli.

In the garden, the artist installed several conceptual sculptures made with clay, modeling paste, elastic bands, and rescue blankets, which created a narrative counterpart to the stones installed inside the exhibition space.

Some of the artist's books were also conceived of as an integral part of the show and exhibited as such.
